Week 668

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.

Last week a lot of time went into the Ministerie van Veiligheid en Justitie consultancy project I’m doing together with David Nieborg. Can’t say too much about it at this point.

On Wednesday I had the first meeting for a SonicPicnic / Monobanda collaboration I was asked to help develop a backstory for. This will probably be really cool.

On Thursday I had a session with Collin and Hessel at Two Tribes, breaking our heads on the structure of Toki Tori 2 (an upcoming puzzle game with an open development process). The game won’t have a story in the traditional sense, but we do want the game and its world to feel believable, coherent and ‘whole’.

As far as writing goes, I wrote columns that will appear in nrc.next and on Gamer.nl this week. I also wrote one for the next issue of Control, that won’t be out for a while – I just received the current issue, which also has one of my writings.

Additionally, last week I was asked by the Dutch Official PlayStation Magazine (OPM) to do a regular column for them. That puts the counter at four publications where I am a columnist.

Finally, nrc.next published my review and Rogier Kahlmann’s interview on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. (We also put them up at Bashers, so that’s where I’m linking.) I’m really happy with how Rogier’s interview turned out: critical and insightful. I hope we’ll be able to do a lot more game coverage like that.

Oh yeah, I also discovered that my recent long piece for Bright about Dutch game design can be read online. Do check out the paper version though, they did a really nice job on the photography.
