Week 726

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.

Another week of rewriting my upcoming novel De verdwijners. Time is fast and rewrites are slow!

On Monday, I did visit Two Tribes, where I dropped right into the founders telling everyone they were delaying their puzzle platform game Toki Tori 2 for Wii U until next year. The game was literally a day away from being shipped, so this caused sighs of relief (because there would be time to improve the game) as well as frustration (because game development can be stressful, and it was not over yet).

Later last week I finished my Wreck-It Ralph essay, which was published on Wednesday in the film appendix of NRC Handelblad, and on Friday on the Tech spread of nrc.next. It is also online right here: Een held die meer dan wat code wil zijn: Wreck-It Ralph als Mario-film.

My new Next Level column was also published in nrc.next, about Miiverse, the social layer of the Wii U that I find quite enjoyable. I have published it here: Miiverse, de sociale laag van de Wii U.

On Thursday I saw Looper with Hessel Bonenkamp, which was fun and inspirational.

On Saturday I visited the Playful Arts Festival in ’s Hertogenbosch, together with Sander van der Vegte. The event was curated by another friend, Zuraida Buter, and we played a lot of local multiplayer games including Analog Joust With Lemons. My favourite was Bennett Foddy’s Pole Riders, which I hadn’t played yet.

On Sunday I made pancakes.
