Week 790

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.

Last week started out preparing for The Soft Failure, my talk at FailCon NL, which was on Tuesday. I spoke about my games publication projects, including Bashers.nl, philosophizing about the nature of failure, different kinds of failures, and how one can get better at it.

Otherwise it was a pretty quiet week. I prepared for my trip to Silicon Valley and San Francisco, which starts tomorrow. In addition, I cleaned out my office and did some paperwork, to make sure I’ll be able to leave with a clear conscience.

On Monday my piece on the ongoing success of Minecraft was published in NRC Handelsblad, and on Thursday it made a surprise appearance in nrc.next, with my review of iOS game Disco Zoo and Rogier Kahlmann’s review of South Park: The Stick of Truth (which I edited) next to it.

On Wednesday I had my weekly game development hobby night with Hessel and nearly fell asleep. (Not Hessel’s fault.)

On Friday I couldn’t resist the urge to do some brainstorming and outlining on Sexy Sadie, even though I won’t really start work on my next big novel until perhaps the end of the year.

On Sunday, the beach!
