Four-Leaf Clover Taxis and Special Stamps

Kyoto’s number one taxi company has a clover leaf as its logo. A regular three-leaf clover. However, out of its 1600 cars, four have a four-leaf clover. The drivers work in shifts, taking turns driving the lucky cabs. You never know where they’re going to turn up. And the cool thing is, if you catch one, you get a special stamp.

I love that. It’s urban gameplay, stimulating people to look around, making them more curious about their surroundings. Apparently such special stamps are used more often here in Japan. You could get one when you climb a mountain, for example.

This brings an somewhat magical aspect to regular life, almost like a video game. We should have such a thing in Europe, too…
