Week 716

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.
With the first draft of my novel, the TNO magazine I helped out on and my VARA ARG reporting done, last week I tried to turn it down a notch.
As usual during quiet periods, I spent some time clearing out my notes, email inbox and other files, as well as doing some administrative work.
I then took some time to think about the big picture, and after much hesitation decided to stop Bashers.nl, after 6 years and 8 months. The decision will be announced on the site this week and I’ll write more about it here.
Besides that, on Monday, I wrapped up The Spiral with a final blog post, which was published a day later.
On Monday night, I did a Skype interview with Jon Mak and Shaw-Han Liem, the developers of
On Tuesday, Merlijn Doomernik came over to take the portrait photograph that will be on the back of my book.
On Wednesday, I went to Two Tribes and wrote my first blog post for them. Toki Tori 2 is two months away from being finished and looking wonderful.
On Thursday I finished my Next Level column for nrc.next, about Brandon Boyer’s new website Venus Patrol (and one possible future of journalism: giving it away with other stuff), which appeared a day later on the Tech spread.
On Friday, I started writing an overview of the Dutch games scene for Boekman, which I was asked to do by the Dutch Games Association.
During the weekend, I finished an article about Unity for OPM, and started playing Dishonored. I’ve also been playing Mark of the Ninja: both are ‘player-centric’ stealth games in which you get some degree of freedom to reach your goal. One is 3D and big-budget, the other is 2D and relatively-small-budget. I’m having a ball with both.
