Week 739

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.

In terms of work, last week was short. On Monday afternoon, my family and I drove to the province of Zeeland for a short holiday, and we didn’t return until Friday. I did some work on my upcoming novel De verdwijners in the evenings, but mostly we just gawked at the Delta Works, went to the swimming pool, and played Rummikub.

While Vlambeer’s excellent Ridiculous Fishing exploded onto the scene, I was playing Temple Run clone Sonic Dash, of which my short review was published in nrc.next on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I got stuck on a rather annoying challenge in which I had to ‘drop my rings’ twenty times in one game. Maybe I was just doing it wrong.

I also read some of George Saunders’ story collection Tenth of December, I highly recommend Escape from Spiderhead.

Meanwhile, in the real world, literary magazine De Gids launched the ‘let me know when shit is happening’ sign-up page, of Your Daily Victory Boogie Woogie, the writing game I will be contributing to starting in April. If you enjoy literature and writing at all, have a peek and join!
