Week 848

What’s this? I’m blogging about my work on a weekly basis – a simple way to track and archive whatever it is I spend my time on.

Last week I focused on hybrid writing, mainly the Geometry Girl project. The hardest part right now is organising (and prioritising) my ideas in a presentable manner, for the outside world and for my contributors. I solved some of it with a whiteboard, some of it with outlining and mindmapping software, and some of it with a prototype for a new website. Cleaning out my desk and inbox helped too; it can be so tough to think clearly sometimes.

It was also the week in which I officially continued the Hybrid Writer’s Podcast, as I published my interview with Arnon Grunberg on Thursday. The format was refreshed: I now break in with narration from time to time, which I feel works quite well (though I’ll have to do it more to get better, obviously). I recorded a new podcast too, with Auke Hulst, on Monday. I plan to edit and upload that one sometimes in May. Somewhat relatedly, I received the latest issue of 609, the magazine of the Dutch Cultural Media Fund, which contains an article I wrote on the cross-pollination possibilities of games and literature, with a starring role for Mr. Grunberg. It’s online too: De vrije modus van het spelen – Hebben literatuur en games iets met elkaar? (When a headline ends with a question mark the answer is usually no, but here it’s a definite yes.)
